Causes of Deformation of the Tear Ducts

• Congenital Blockages. Some individuals are born with underdeveloped or blocked tear ducts.
• Infections. Infections like conjunctivitis or dacryocystitis can lead to swelling or scarring of the tear ducts.
• Age-Related Changes. As individuals age, the tear ducts may become narrower or clogged, leading to difficulty draining tears.
• Trauma. Injury to the face or eye area can damage or deform the tear ducts.

Symptoms

• Excessive tearing or watery eyes.
• Frequent eye infections or eye discharge.
• Pain or swelling near the inner corner of the eye.
• Crusting or sticky discharge around the eyes.
